We honored Dr. Smith at The Power Of Influence/awards for his philanthropy and civil rights work for last 50 years, but we also wanted to do it again and present it to him at the African American Civil War Museum because of the HISTORIC context in which this landmark means to our CULTURE and our HISTORY.
Besides Mrs. Opal Lee, this was one of the most profound moments of the entire weekend because Dr. Smith was at the very first March On Washington back in 1963 with Dr. Martin Luther King.

ABOUT THE POWER OF INFLUENCE LEGENDS BALL
Formerly known as The POI Awards, The Power Of Influence Legends Ball has now grown into being one of the hottest awards ticket in the country. The Power Of Influence Legends Ball every year recognizes an esteemed group of entertainers, celebrities, athletes, influencers, community leaders and philanthropists for their career accomplishments. Created and founded by music industry veteran Jerry B. of Live-N-Direct Multimedia, the award honorees are celebrated for their unique impact not only on pop culture, music and fashion, but also through their charitable donations and community initiatives.
Each year, the Power Of Influence Committee and Live-N-Direct Multimedia produces an elegant, red carpet awards event, that includes surprise performances by some of today’s top artists, a VIP celebrity gifting suite and cool brand activations for our guests and attendees. We have produced eight (8) Power Of Influence Legends Ball to date in seven (7) different cities nationwide, that included a special Nipsey Hussle Tribute Weekend in New York City with a live performance by Grammy Award winning artist Chrisette Michele, live on stage at Kevin Hart’s sold out show at Madison Square Garden and one international awards event in Johannesburg, South Africa in partnership with the Geness Foundation to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s 100th Centennial Celebration.
